Cissbury Ring is an Iron Age hill fort, located to the north of Worthing. The site has been examined many times over the years with up to 100 flint mineshafts being recorded dating back to ca. 3000BC. The mining was carried out using antlers as pick axes and animal shoulder blades as shovels etc.
Cissbury Ring is one of the largest hill forts known in England and is owned by the National Trust. It is built on the contours of the hill, and covers approx 65 acres. The highest point is 184 metres above sea level and is marked by a triangulation point. This is where many people head for once having climbed to the very top, The views are outstanding with the town of Worthing and the Sea to the South.
