1830's The Brewers' Arms, with a brewery, was recorded at the South East corner of the green from approx. 1850 to 1872. By 1878 it had become the Cricketers' Arms, and in the 1970s it was the headquarters of Broadwater cricket club. During the 1970's the pub had been in the hands of the Page family for over 100 years. The building to the right was demolished and the whole area is now the location of a shopping area called The Cricketers Parade

The pub is still in existence today, and looks slightly different to that pictured above. The main difference is the change to the main entrance which is now located to the left of the building where the "lean-to" is located.

I would deem this pub as my local these days. The food and welcome is always good and there is always good beer on tap.
