The current school is sited south of the Fire station, but originally was sited at the southern end of Broadwater green. There was a school on this site listed in the 1821 census. The building pictured below was built in 1875 and demolished in 1937. Behind the school was the site of the original blacksmiths forge of Paine Manwaring.

This "road" no longer exists, the picture on the right shows an enlargement of the drinking fountain, which was demolished, in the late 1950's as part of the road widening scheme.

Pictured in the background behind the school are the Broadwater Parish rooms which are still in use today, to the extreme left behind the drinking fountain is the old post office.
